Whitney Smith wrote an extensive text, accompanied by drawings, that described the special features and planning reasons behind each room and asserted that hisĭesign "defines urban living as an intimate garden out of which the house rises."ġ945 - The Ruth Allen House, Alta Loma CA. One of Smith's students was Wayne Richard Williams who by 1949 was his Harwell Hamilton Harris, Kem Weber, and William Pereira. Smith was born in Pasadena CA and attended the University of Southern California, graduating in 1934 with a bachelor's degree in architecture.
